So [livejournal.com profile] acidpop25 mentioned a hankering for a rarepair remix. Today, we discussed the topic, came up with some thoughts, etc. etc. eg: No pairings that are listed as 'major pairings' here or here, no pairings that include two 'major' characters (Trio, Ginny, Draco, or Snape, namely), etc. etc. Participants would have to have at least five rarepair fics, and would get one 'safe' fic (one that no-one will remix), and one more with each additional five rarepair fics. Sound like fun? I thought so.

We're thinking of giving about two, two and a half months' writing time, BUT we want to know when the best time to have the fest (in the humble opinions of all you lovely fandomers out there :D) is.

In conclusion: [livejournal.com profile] capitol_barbie, where are you?!

CAN'T do it anytime in the near future. Spring or summer would be best for me. NaNoWriMo is in November. DDDDDD:

I ship that ticky with the one above it. That ticky is clearly a bottom.

no pairings that include two 'major' characters (Trio, Ginny, Draco, or Snape, namely), etc. etc

So you would count, say, Ginny/Snape as a major pairing? O_O

And would it have to be five different rare pairings, or if a writer has written 5+ fics of the same rare pairing, would that be okay? I can understand if not, because it would force the remixer to write that one pairing, with no real choice...

If answer to any of those questions is yes, I should write some more rare pairing fic before I could participate, but I'd definitely be following the remix ;)

I am not sure that I have five fics :| Does Neville/Luna count? Draco/Pansy?

Well, I have lots of Draco/Morag, Draco/Neville, and a Millicent/Pansy... do fics for other exchanges count once they've been revealed?

Hello :D I voted for "in the spring" but I'd like to qualify that: my best advice, generally, but also because I am a mod, is that you don't pick dates that conflict with [livejournal.com profile] hp_valensmut or [livejournal.com profile] hp_springsmut. Esp. springsmut (not only because it's my comm, but because that would be rarepair overkill in the same month). Springsmut does sign-ups/assignments in December, due dates in February and posting in March, as I'm sure you know :D. I would suggest late December and/or January sign-ups shooting for posting in April or May. The only fest competition I can think of during that time is [livejournal.com profile] crossover_hp (April posting). Also, just a note in case you wanna aim for later spring/summer... if there's some writing period overlap with the end of springsmut, people would be able to remix things people had written in that fest :D

But, yes, sounds like a good idea. As long as any and every Percy pairing is eligible :D

Hi. Linked her from the Quibbler. I think this is a great idea and I would totally sign up if it were after the X-mas exchanges. Would we be able to say that we wouldn't write certain characters altogether, though. Like no Percy or no Dumbledore, or whatever?

Hello! Well, I'll be the first one to ask then :-P What exactly is a remix, and how does it differ from an exchange or a prompt-based fest?
